The Beachell-Borlaug Scholars Program recognizes the importance of rice and wheat in global and agricultural systems. As part of our 2008 commitment to sustainable agriculture, we pledged $10 million over 5 years to improve yields in these crops. The 2009 Fellowship Awardees and Dr. Ed Runge, program director and chair from Texas A&M AgriLife Research, discuss the impact of this investment.
